FAQ
Quick answers about playing Squarecaster and about the Arcade Pass. Something not working? See Support.
Playing
What is Squarecaster?
Four short arcade games that build a quicker eye for chess: Garden Raid and Clockwork Lockdown train finding squares by name, like e4. Relic Runner and Dropstrike teach how the pieces move and capture. Square Sprint is a 60-second check of how many squares you can find.
Do I need to know chess?
No. Every game starts easy, and the paid games open with a no-clock Learn mode. If coordinates are new to you, start with Garden Raid.
Is it free?
Yes. Garden Raid, Square Sprint and the Daily Sprint are fully free, and every other game’s Learn mode and first level are free too. There are no ads. You don’t need an account to play.
What do I need to play?
A current web browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Tap the squares, or type a square or move with a keyboard. You can add Squarecaster to your home screen, and it opens offline once it has loaded fully online.
Is my progress saved?
Records, stars and campaign progress are saved in the browser you play in. They aren’t synced between devices, and clearing the browser’s site data removes them. A run in progress isn’t saved, so leaving or reloading ends it.
Can I play with a keyboard, or with less motion?
Yes. You can type every answer, and the games follow your device’s Reduced Motion setting. If something gets in your way, please tell us.
The Arcade Pass
What does it unlock?
- Clockwork Lockdown: workshop Sectors 2–6, the Daily operation and Keep holding.
- Relic Runner: chambers 4–24 and the Daily chamber.
- Dropstrike: waves 2–12, timed Survival and its Daily.
How much is it?
US$9.99, paid once. No subscription, no renewal and nothing else to buy in the games. Checkout shows the final amount, including any tax for your location, before you pay.
Why do I need an account to buy?
The account owns your pass, so you can unlock it again on another browser or device. Playing for free never needs one.
How do I buy it?
Open a paid level in any game, or choose Account at the top of the arcade’s home page, then choose Buy. You create an account, pay on Stripe’s secure checkout and return to the game.
Who handles the payment?
Link, Stripe’s payment service, is the reseller and merchant of record for each order. It collects any sales tax or VAT. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us.
After you buy
Where is my receipt?
Link emails it to the address you entered at checkout. Your card statement shows LINK.COM*.
How do I play on another device or browser?
Open Squarecaster there, choose Account at the top of the home page, choose Already bought? Sign in and sign in with the same account. Paid levels unlock there too.
Will my progress follow me to the new device?
No. The pass follows your account, but stars, records and campaign progress stay in the browser where you earned them.
Can I play paid levels offline?
Yes. Once you sign in and your pass is confirmed, the browser downloads the paid levels so they open offline. Signing out removes those downloads from that browser, but keeps your records.
Does the pass expire?
No. It has no time limit and no repeat charge, and it lasts for as long as we run Squarecaster. See the Terms of Purchase.
I already bought it. Why am I asked to buy again?
You’re probably signed out, or signed in with a different email. Choose Already bought? Sign in and use the account you paid with. If you’re signed in and it still asks, use Check purchase on the Account page. You won’t be charged twice. More steps are on Support.
Can I share the pass?
It’s for your own use on any of your devices. Please don’t share your sign-in.
Can I get a refund?
Yes, within 14 days of buying, no questions asked. Email support@squarecaster.com from the address on your account. A refund locks the paid levels again, and free games stay free. See the Refund Policy.
How do I delete my account?
Email support@squarecaster.com from the address on your account. Deleting your account also removes your pass. We keep only the order records the law requires.
